How to draw L ZEN 7’S

Zentangle pattern: L zen 7. Image © Linda Farmer and All rights reserved.Happy Monday everyone, and welcome to November!

The L zen 7’s tangle was created recently by CZT Annette Carlo’s 5-year-old daughter as she sat tangling in a mandala template.

Annette explains,

As I was watching her do her deliberate little strokes and filling in the different areas, I had to stop her and ask her to repeat what she had just done. She was simply making a capital ‘L’ and then adding a ‘7’ or backwards or upside down 7.

So I played with it a while and I think I have come up with a way to make it a very versatile and fun lil’ tangle. All because of my 5 year old’s inspiration!

Annette has taken her daughter’s original concept, deconstructed the steps, and added a range of things you can do with this simple tangle.

For my example of L zen 7’s, I added tiny orbs at the tips of the Ls and 7s just for fun but wait until you see all of Annette’s creative variations on this easy tangle.

Annette illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing L zen 7’s here on her blog and shows her daughter’s original drawing inspiring the tangle. L zen 7’s turns out to be a whole family affair — Annette’s 8-year-old son helped come up with the name L zen 7’s, and you can read how that all came about in Annette’s post too.
