Today’s lovely Oolo is by CZT Amelie Liao, and it’s her first tangle pattern on the site. Amelie is a graduate of the recent class of CZTs and she’s from Nantou, Taiwan.
Nantou, we learn from Wikipedia, “is the second largest county of Taiwan. It is also the only landlocked county in Taiwan. … Its mountainous area makes it a tourist destination; Sun Moon Lake is located in this county. … Nantou County’s butterfly is the Broad-tailed swallowtail butterfly (Agehana maraho). Nantou’s tung-ting tea is one of the most famous and high-quality oolong teas grown in Taiwan.” That’s my brief travelogue for today.
I think Amelie’s chosen name for her tangle Oolo is very clever because it’s a mnemonic for remembering how to draw it. The strokes for drawing her tangle begin with two O‘s (Step 1) and then the cursive or script lower case l (Step 2 ) and a “squished” O (Step 4’s teardrop shape) in the corners between the l’s.
Amelie illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Oolo here and shows it in a very pretty Zentangle® which also features the Zentangle-original tangle Assunta.
