Cyra is a tangle pattern inspired by beaded jewelry and deconstructed for us by West Virginia tangler Beth Snoderly. Beth has previously shared Waft and Neuron here on TanglePatterns.
Although Cyra looks complicated to draw, in true Zentangle® style it is very easy “one stroke at a time”TM.
“I love tangles that come from jewelry. I saw this pattern at a arts and crafts fair. A nice lady had created this pattern in her jewelry using seed beads and the tube seed beads hooked together by a more flat and rounded bead. I had to sketch it down so I would remember it. Varying the length of the tubes or the hooked beads creates a different look.“
In my example above I added an aura to the circle “beads” and turned the pattern on its side to demonstrate the tangle has no right side up. Cyra offers loads of potential for variation, here’s an example I played with and in this one I added some shading.
Beth illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Cyra below with a Zentangle featuring Cyra with a little Diva Dance in the center.

Hi Jan! We are about two hours apart.
Wow, a Tangle Pattern with my own name, lol.
Well, it is such a pretty name!
