Oh my, I think you’re going to have so much fun with Cornerz.
Didier Gervy recently caught the Zentangle® bug and he joins Jonathan Baetens in contributing tangles from “beautiful little Belgium”.
Cornerz is Didier’s first tangle on the site; Jonathan’s is the lovely Meo.
Cornerz is a grid-based tangle that’s simple and totally random – it looks different every time you do it. It’s a bit addictive!
You can use either a regular grid, or a channel-based grid using parallel lines. I experimented with both and in my first example I combined Didier’s steps with one of the variations he illustrates in his monotangle.
As Didier writes, “It’s simple, but the result is amazing. Always different, due to the random placement, and always with some continuous curvy lines.”
“I discovered Zentangle 6 months ago and literally fell in love with those tiny drawings. Since then, I practice every day and some of my Zentangles are posted on Flickr under my nickname Triskell314.
Visiting France, we stayed in a motel in Normandy. The bathroom floor of our room was quite unusual and we found that its pattern could easily be translated in a nice tangle one. We took a picture of the floor. It’s made of one unique little tile with rounded corners, randomly placed on the floor.“
Didier shares this photo of his Cornerz tangle inspiration.
Here are Didier’s step-by-step instructions for drawing Cornerz. “In addition, I illustrate it with a monotangle and two variations,” he writes.
Thanks for sharing a great tangle, Didier. We look forward to seeing more from Belgium!
