In this 7-minute video, CZT® Suzanne McNeill demonstrates how to use a Uchida DecoColor Paint Marker
to tangle a seasonal pumpkin.
According to the manufacturer, DecoColor oil-based paint markers have permanent opaque paint “with exclusive pigmented brilliance”. They write on most surfaces like, glass, metal, stone, wood, papers, mirrors, porcelain and clay. The paint is opaque, oil based, lead free, acid free, lightfast, weatherproof, pigmented and contains xylene.
The Uchida paint markers are available in 30 different colors if you want to go beyond the black and white palette of Zentangle®.
Suzanne’s demonstration may be just the thing to kick your seasonal creativity up a notch. Enjoy!
Sakura also makes paint markers that you might like to try for similar projects. CZT® Leslie Crumpler recently demonstrated those here in this video on TanglePatterns.
Suzanne also recommends her Design Originals Pumpkin Patch for more seasonal design ideas.

Thanks for the ideas! It looks like such fun to do.
What a great idea it looks great:-)
I tangled a pumpkin last year to get people to sign up for a class. I used sharpies and paint markers. I kept the pumpkin orange.
I really enjoyed watching this and can’t wait to give it a try! My daughters in her schools Art Club and they sale carved pumpkins in the fall to help fund their trip they take later in the year.I’ve been thinking it might be fun to share Zentangle with them and tangling pumpkins might be a great way of doing it!
Do you have to seal the pumpkin once it is tangled – to preserve the design?
Hi Esther, I think from the information Uchida provides that their pens don’t need sealing since they are “weatherproof”. I suppose it never hurts to do that if you’re concerned about permanence though.
Was für eine tolle Idee
Diese werde ich gleich dieses Jahr ausprobieren
DANKE
