Sharing some Zendala fun

Brinn McFetrdige has fun with her Zendala SetRecently I received an email from tangler Brinn McFetridge of Poquoson, Virginia, telling me how much fun she was having with her new Zendala Set. “I know I am going to want to do these regularly…” She attached several images as proof.

I asked if I could share with you and she willingly agreed. Asked to introduce herself, she was succinct. (I suspect I was taking her away from Zendala time!)

Played the viola semi-professionally back in 1970’s – 80’s. Went back to school and became a chiropractor. I am now retired. I knit lace, fair isle and textured/cabled patterns. I am also a fiddler. I play traditional Scottish fiddle, traditional Irish fiddle, a little bluegrass and a lot of Old Time fiddle. I’m very happily married, and I have a 19 year old son who is in school out in Seattle.

As Dayton, Ohio CZT® Carole Ohl explains, “If you like the art of Zentangle®, you have to give these a try. Doing a Zendala can take you into a deeper level of relaxation. There is something about repeating the same pattern the same amount of times in a circle that is really calming, yet more focused at the same time. It never ceases to amaze me what happens in this process. Time melts away. Lists disappear. Just a sense of being with what is at the end of your fingertips. Pure joy.

I thought you might like to see what the new Zendala craze is all about and what better example than one of you! I’ve selected three of the Zendalas Brinn sent me and here they are for your inspiration and enjoyment.

Thanks for sharing, Brinn! Brinn??? … Oh heck, she doesn’t hear me. I think she’s off in that deeper level of relaxation, the Zendala Zone. 😉

Crave more? For my money the most classic examples I’ve seen are from Zentangle® founder Maria Thomas on this page. And here are a few more I’ve found to share from CZTs around the Zentangle world:

Do you have your Zendala Set yet?  What are you waiting for?!

The (brand new) Zendala Zone

Zendala Zone group on flickrI know more of you will want to share your Zendala creations and for this purpose I’ve created a new public group on flickr called the Zendala Zone. This group is specifically for sharing your Zentangle art created on the official Zentangle Zendala tiles.

Everyone is welcome to join. Upload your Zendalas and share your creations! http://www.flickr.com/groups/zendala_zone/
