How to draw CORNER BOX

Zentangle pattern: Flukes. Image © Linda Farmer and TanglePatterns.com. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. You may use this image for your personal non-commercial reference only. The unauthorized pinning, reproduction or distribution of this copyrighted work is illegal.Corner Box is CZT® Suzanne McNeill’s name for the official tangle Flukes.

Suzanne includes this tangle in her Zentangle Basics and Zentangle Fabric Arts booklets where she correctly names it Flukes and attributes it as a Zentangle®-original.

It’s one of those geometric patterns that are very satisfying to draw and it offers lots of opportunities for variations if you feel so inclined.

If you vary this pattern by curving the corner “box”, you get another official pattern, Beelight.

On her blog Suzanne shows us how to draw Flukes where she calls it Corner Box here (link removed).

UPDATE: Early in the Summer of 2014 Suzanne McNeill’s blog domain registration expired and all the posts and images were lost. Many of her patterns on TanglePatterns can quite easily be figured out. For those that might be a little more difficult, Fox Chapel Publishing (who hold the copyright) and Suzanne have graciously given me permission to post her copyright-protected images on TanglePatterns for your convenience.

Thus patterns that are drawings of a recognizable naturalistic or actual object, figure, or scene, are not tangles. A pattern is not always a tangle — here's what makes a tangle. TIP: tangles never start with pencil planning.
