Journal Junkies WorkshopThe complete title of this book is The Journal Junkies Workshop: Visual Ammunition for the Art Addict.

Published by the excellent art instruction publisher, North Light Books, this 160-page book covers many techniques and creative ideas.

The authors, by Eric M. Scott and David R. Modler, write:

“To spread the power of the visual journal, we have written and published The Journal Junkies Workshop: Visual Ammunition for the Art Addict. As a general guide to techniques and considerations to working in the visual journal, our book provides a straight forward resource for anyone interested in the visual journal from the beginner to the most experienced visual journalist.

Discover a truly no-nonsense approach to documenting your life with a visual journal. You’ll be relieved to see how easy it is to use a plethora of art techniques and not only how to make marks, but how to translate your experiences and thoughts to your journal. In addition to discussion about various types of journals to work in, you will be walked through step-by-step instruction for everything from drawing and doodling to watercolor and stenciling.”

I just got this book, (because Borders is closing) yesterday. It is filled with terrific images and great ideas to create journals on a shoe-string or go hog wild at the hardwarestore or craft shop. Along with this book, I purchased, Book Arts, by Dorothy Simpson Krause. If you have ever wanted to make your own journal or are interested in creating books of any kind for any occasion or gift. Run to the bookstore and scoop this up.

Thanks for sharing your recommendations, Marguerite. I really enjoy Journal Junkies Workshop too. I received it as a Christmas gift and it’s like a catalog (with how-to’s) of so many fun techniques and ideas for art journaling. It opens up so many creative possibilities to enjoy. Definitely a great reference!
