Now that we’ve turned our calendar pages to February, this is the time of year when the Valentine tangle patterns venture out to play.
Today’s sweet new tangle Luv-a comes from Chicago-land CZT Sharon Caforio, a classmate of mine in CZT VII. Sharon has previously shared the lovely Sparkle tangle with us.
Now I know Rick and Maria write in The Book of Zentangle, “We don’t teach complex elements such as hearts, stars or flowers“. However, I’m bending the tangle rules a little for these patterns.
Sharon explains how Luv-a came about:
“This tangle came about as I was preparing to give a class. I love flowing, airy tangles and was looking for something new to present that could also be used as a border design, corner design or a curvy tangle design. With Valentine’s Day just around the corner I came up with hearts as the image for my main tangle design and focus. It’s like a fresh bouquet design on paper. What I love about it is that it can take off and just flow in any direction, therefore creating spaces so that other tangle designs can be interwoven in it, but alone, it speaks for itself and is truly an image of love floating in the air. Therefore, the name Luv-a.”
Here Sharon illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Luv-a and includes it together with a little Fescu/Beadlines combo embellishing Luv-a in a delicate Zentangle®.
