How to draw SPAWN

Zentangle pattern: Spawn. Image © Linda Farmer and TanglePatterns.com. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. You may use this image for your personal non-commercial reference only. The unauthorized pinning, reproduction or distribution of this copyrighted work is illegal.Spawn is a whimsically cute tangle pattern from Shoshi who shared her lovely and somewhat challenging Y-Ful Power tangle with us.

Today I was looking for something really simple and fun to do and I remembered Spawn. It not only fills the bill, it easily fills out a Zentangle® section as you twist and turn your tile while adding more Spawn.

Start with a small circle in the middle and work outwards, joining each new circle with a short curved line,” Shoshi writes. The curved lines makes quite a difference to how this tangle looks, along with the “baby tadpole inside each circle“. You can play with the scale of this tangle and vary it in lots of creative ways.

I heartily agree that “This is a nice relaxing tangle to do.” Spawn also makes an excellent border tangle as you will see when you visit Shoshi’s blog.

Shoshi illustrates the steps for drawing Spawn here on her blog. Enjoy!

  • Thank you for including Spawn in Tangle Patterns, Linda! I hope it proves a useful and fun tangle for lots of people. It’s a lot less challenging than Y-Ful Power, at any rate!!

    Have fun.
    Shoshi
