How to draw CAPELL

Zentangle pattern: CapellHere’s a versatile tangle pattern by Oil City, Pennsylvania, CZT® Anita Roby-Lavery, who writes that Capell was inspired by leaded glass windows.

In its geometric simplicity this tangle reminds me of some of the leaded glass windows by renowned American architect and designer Frank Lloyd Wright.

Frank Lloyd Wright is recognized as “the greatest American architect of all time” by the American Institute of Architects. His breathtaking national landmark Fallingwater, built in 1935 in rural southwestern PA south of Pittsburgh, “is listed among Smithsonian’s Life List of 28 places “to visit before you die.”

“Wright believed in designing structures which were in harmony with humanity and its environment, a philosophy he called organic architecture.” He was generations ahead of his time.

When your Zentangle calls for something clean and airy, Capell is a nice one to call on. Here are Anita’s steps for drawing Capell, and one suggested variation out of many possibilities. Enjoy!
