The Pavonia tangle pattern was created by new tangler Angie Shade, and this is her first pattern on the site.
The name Pavonia, she writes, comes from the Latin “pavo” for peacock and her abstract interpretation of peacock “eyes” into a tangle pattern is very clever.
Pavonia has lots of options for variation and looks great as a border, as I chose to do here, or as an all-over filler.
Angie illustrates the steps for drawing her Pavonia tangle below with an example showing some interesting ways to vary it. Thanks for sharing this lovely tangle, Angie!

I’m going to redo my living room in a peacock theme. I loved drawing Pavonia. I’ll have to draw some ZIA’s using your tangle and frame them for my living room. Here’s where I tried them out in my 5.5″x5.5″ journal.
