How to draw JELLY ROLL

Zentangle pattern: Jelly RollJelly Roll is a tangle pattern by CZT®, publisher and prolific craftswoman, Suzanne McNeill. Jelly Roll first appears in her Zentangle 3 book and again in Zentangle Fabric Arts.

Kudos are in order for Suzanne! Later this month she’s being honored at the Craft & Hobby Association Winter 2012 Trade Show & Conference in Anaheim CA, with CHA’s 2011 Industry Achievement Award. One of the craft and hobby industry’s most prestigious service awards, this is “given to a member who has contributed to the growth and vitality of the craft and hobby industry as a whole.” You can read more about Suzanne and the award here on the CHA news site.

Congratulations on your well-deserved award, Suzanne!

It took me a few goes to get Jelly Roll to look right because I drew the initial spirals too small and ended up with no room to add the contour lines that give it that bit of dimension. I also added shading to my example here.

Suzanne illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing her Jelly Roll tangle, here.
