How to draw HUGGY BEAR

Zentangle pattern: Huggy Bear

The Huggy Bear tangle comes to us from Delaware’s JJ LaBarbera and this is JJ’s fourth pattern on TanglePatterns.

The name for this one may be a little silly. I named it Huggy Bear because this pattern grew out of my drawing [the official tangle] Huggins incorrectly. I had the lines all done before I stopped and noticed what I had done.

I found Huggy Bear requires concentration when you’re drawing the initial lines as it’s easy to get them curving in the “wrong” direction (though there are no mistakes in Zentangle®).

This is the first pattern example on TanglePatterns where I used a white pen – in this case  a Sakura Gelly Roll White Pen – to create the dots in the center as JJ suggests. Easy peasy.

JJ illustrates the steps for drawing her Huggy Bear tangle and a cool variation, here.

Check out the tag jjl for more of JJ’s patterns on TanglePatterns.com.
