How to draw POSTL

Zentangle pattern: Postl. Image © Linda Farmer and TanglePatterns.com. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. You may use this image for your personal non-commercial reference only. The unauthorized pinning, reproduction or distribution of this copyrighted work is illegal. This fun tangle pattern, Postl, was created by Susan S. and it’s the first pattern of hers to be added to TanglePatterns.com. Susan is also known as cakemaker727 on flickr.

The pattern’s name inspiration?

These remind me of envelopes hence the title.

I confess to having taken small liberties by filling in the solid spaces – thus it doesn’t look exactly like Susan’s illustration as you can see below and you’ll get the envelope influence when you visit her instructions. I know it’s a little early, but this pattern reminds me of Christmas decorations.

Susan shows the step-by-step instructions for drawing Postl here.

Asked to share a little background with you, Susan replied:

I live in the USA in the Pacific Northwest. I found out about Zentangle® at the beginning of 2010 through an article in Cloth, Paper, Scissors magazine. I was immediately intrigued and looked up everything I could find about them on the web. I’ve had a lot of fun with it and just having this creative outlet has inspired me to try other artsy endeavors such as learning to draw. I mostly would like to be able to draw in a journal any of our travels. So Zentangle has broadened my horizons and given me some confidence to try other art forms. And that’s a pretty cool thing!

  • This is another pattern I am going to try. I’ve come upon Zentangles this year too, and my drawing has become a daily activity. I want to use the Zentangles ideas to improve my sense of Design, and have started borrowing Design book, Celtic Designs…I love it. Zentangles has given me “the way in”.

  • Hi, Susan S. Love your “Postl” tangle pattern and thanks for sharing it. I was looking in flickr at your other Zentangles and there’s a couple you did that looked like ribbon. Did you create the “Ribbon” Tangle pattern? If not, where did you get the idea?
