How to draw WARPED EGGS

Zentangle pattern: Warped EggsWarped Eggs is the first Zentangle® pattern by Livia Chua to be added to TanglePatterns.com. Livia is a regular in the Zentangle group on flickr, you may know her there as skinnystraycat.

I asked Livia to tell us about herself and in her typical offbeat way, she wrote:

Livia is from Southeast Asia, and believes that one eventually acquires a slightly warped sense of humor from living on a tiny island that is just a single degree north of the Equator, since it’s always hot enough to fry your brains. … I’m not a CZT or a professional artist or art teacher. I was born in the Year of the Dragon, I used to be a writer, I’m an avid anime fan and I can communicate in English, Chinese and Japanese but none of that is in any way related to my need to zentangle.

Livia has a very clean, whimsical style in her art and she illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing her tangle pattern Warped Eggs, here.

Zentangle pattern: Warped Eggs VariantThis is a fun pattern to draw and it does require one’s full concentration to get the basic shapes in place. More variants that come to mind include making alternating stripes solid and/or leaving the basic outline empty in alternating rows. Or filling in the center, as I did here. A little shading would add even more depth.

Check out the tag liviac for more of Livia’s patterns on TanglePatterns.com. You can also find her on flickr, here.
