How to draw BOLLY POINT

Here’s a cool tangle for you to have fun with this weekend.

Bolly Point is from Dutch CZT Hilde von Ginhoven and it’s her first on the site.

Hilde introduces herself and explains how she discovered Zentangle®:

My name is Hilde van Ginhoven and I was born in Amsterdam.

When I first saw Zentangle drawings I was called out by the shape and the black and white. After my first workshop I did an intensive evening course with a friend (who is now also CZT), and I really got hooked.

What surprised me most of all: the drawing had an immediate kind of meditative effect on me.

I have difficulty with long mindfulness exercises because I am easily distracted, and I am too agile for sitting meditation. With Zentangle I immediately noticed that hour after hour I had the focus on my pen. My body relaxed and I really relaxed. For the first time in my life.

About her Bolly Point tangle she writes,

There is a sort of story for the name Bolly, I just love Bollywood movies – the type of dance, the music, the joy.

And another thing is The Name Bolly (which was a nickname for me when I was young as I used to be a big girl, and bol means big) and it stands for me also another period of my live that I was squeezed in clothes so the circle within the shape is squeezed in!

Bolly Point is easily built on a dot/orb grid, it’s similar in concept to Tanson (and maybe, a little, Unbatz) but the overall shapes are different. Hilde demonstrates a curved version and an angled one for her tangle.

Hilde illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Bolly Point below where she gives us a few ideas for ways to fill the tangle shapes.
