I always find it rather odd to have a Friday long weekend, but I didn’t make the rules 😉
This will be yet another holiday weekend for the books given all the strange and mind-boggling things going on in the world around us this year.
Nonetheless, we can find creative ways to celebrate while staying safe — and the country’s beaches should (mostly) get a break from the pestilence of humanity 🙂
Today’s lovely Virya ribbon-style tangle comes to us from “a Zentangle® enthusiast from India“, Priya Sabhlok. Virya is her first on the site.
Priya writes,
I’ve been practising Zentangle for 4 years now after taking sessions from an Indian CZT, Sandhya Manne and passionately follow my hobby of creating ZIA’s.
My pattern Virya (Energy) is deconstructed in not so good covid times, but this art and drawing patterns give a ray of positivity, energy and enthusiasm which motivated me to create something new.
The pattern starts with drawing arrows defining the rays and thereafter blossom with flowers.
This motivated me to name it Virya which is a Sanskrit word literally meaning Energy.
Priya illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Virya below where her suggestions for variations include the lovely curved version you saw in her Zendala.

Nice tangle with lots of potential for variations, and I like it for a border. Reminds me of art deco designs.

Had to look this pattern up as someone just posted a tile that looks like a Christmas ornament. What a fun looking pattern. Thank you Priya for creating it.
