How to draw MUNCHIN

Zentangle pattern: Munchin. Image © Linda Farmer and TanglePatterns.com. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. You may use this image for your personal non-commercial reference only. The unauthorized pinning, reproduction or distribution of this copyrighted work is illegal.Munchin is a tangle pattern I find particularly challenging and I’m not sure why. [Edit: this was written in May 2010, I’ve long since mastered this fun tangle!]

In their newsletter, Rick and Maria describe it as “Simple to do and fun to watch unfold.” I’ll have fun when I finally get this one! As with many tangle patterns, the trick is to remember to turn your tile as you draw. Hmmm, think I forgot to do that.

Solid fills and shading are variations that work with Munchin.

Munchin is a Zentangle®-original tangle designed by Molly Hollibaugh who “introduced this tangle at our Zentangle Teacher Training Seminar“. The link to Maria’s illustrated instructions for this pattern along with a couple of examples by Molly is here.

Thus patterns that are drawings of a recognizable naturalistic or actual object, figure, or scene, are not tangles. A pattern is not always a tangle — here's what makes a tangle. The instruction link is broken, unfortunately.

    • Linda Farmer, CZT

Hi Pixel, the link actually works fine. I’m not a technical expert but in my experience a couple of things could be at play here. Either your ISP is experiencing high volume so it has slowed/throttled your service so that pages/images are extremely slow loading. Or your browser’s cache is bogged down with junk like trackers so it’s just confused and needs to be cleared. It’s a good idea to do that on a regular basis and you can find instructions online for your device and browser software versions.

Personally I use a free software program called CrapCleaner on a daily basis to clean out the megabytes of junk downloaded by the internet to my computer. Although I would definitely stay away from EVER using its relatively new “Driver Updater”, that was a recipe for computer disaster for me but using Health Check daily is super useful. One other tip for those interested: Go to the Options feature and under “Cookies”, select the cookies you want to keep for sites you visit and sign in often so it saves those for you while clearing out all the other junk.

Hope that helps! Any and all other suggestions are welcome …
