Twilight is an easy, interesting tangle from NY CZT Jody Genovese and it’s her 5th tangle on the site.
When I first saw Jody’s examples I thought, “Carole Ohl’s Tuftid meets Footlites!” But Jody takes Twilight in all different directions …
Jody writes,
I have several journals and pick different ones to play with depending on what I am doing. Some are for practice only and some for ‘finished’ work. Sometimes things just appear in the practice journals that seem like they may make good tangles.
This one is interesting because depending on the base shape you start with and the shading you get really interesting results.
It can fit into any space as well I think.
As Jody notes, you can use any base shape for Twilight. I used an octagon as the starting point for my example and I love how an unusual star emerged by the end.
Jody illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Twilight below and in six cool tiles she demonstrates her point about how it looks great using all different shapes as the starting point. She also includes suggestions for filling the center if you so choose.

Unfortunately I can’t try anything until at least tomorrow….it is my man’s 81st Birthday today (16th) so we are having a dinner party here tonight with two old and dear friends to join us, so, as they say here in Australia, “I am flat out like a lizard drinking” and if you have ever seen that happen, then you know How busy I will be all day cooking and preparing goodies!

I really like this pattern! In practicing it, I find that if I make the longest line for each point first, I can fill in the shortest lines so they connect with the longest line for the adjacent point. It will look good on a black tile, I’ll bet! Thank you!
