Something a little different for our Monday tangle, a video treat …
The Zentangle®-original tangle Zenith was released in April of 2015, a pretty ribbon-style tangle. At the time I wrote:
Zenith is elegantly simple, composed of Zentangle’s elemental strokes of a curve and a straight line. And an aura and an orb here and there. Not only is Zenith a very easy tangle to draw, but I think you will be quite amazed at the wide variety of variations possible with these few simple elements.
Sakura of America recently produced the 16-minute video below featuring Zentangle Product Manager and CZT Molly Hollibaugh tangling Zenith on a black tile.
In her calm and encouraging style, Molly tangles while sharing several tips about using a White Sakura Gelly Roll pen on a Black Zentangle Tile.
She also demonstrates how to use a white charcoal pencil to add a layer of dimension to the white-on-black piece.
Molly adds more layers of interest with a regular graphite pencil and a Sakura Black Micron pen over the (well dried) white Gelly Roll ink. Molly’s finished tile:
I hope you’ve enjoyed spending a few meditative minutes with Molly today and are inspired to give these tools and tips a whirl in your Zentangle practice.
BTW, for future reference you can also locate this video on Zenith’s page.

Thus patterns that are drawings of a recognizable naturalistic or actual object, figure, or scene, are not tangles. A pattern is not always a tangle — here's what makes a tangle.
