Mositoo! Here’s CZT Katy Kehoe’s second tangle for today, the companion tangle to her earlier Mosi.
For more on Katy and her tangle background inspired by Japanese design, be sure to check out Mosi.
Like Mosi, Mositoo is also very flexible and fun to explore how it develops organically in a free-form fashion and fits into any shape section of your Zentangle® tile.
Katy illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Mositoo below and demonstrates it in a striking duotangle Zentangle tile with her Mosi tangle.
Katy’s tile is a good example of what I understand about the Japanese design concept of notan: “involving the play and placement of light and dark elements as they are placed next to the other in the composition of art and imagery.”
As you enjoy any of the tangles on the site, please leave a comment of thanks and encouragement to show the artists you appreciate them for sharing their creativity to inspire yours.

A great pair of tangles, that offer something a bit different. These will be very useful to add some contrast and movement in my organic pieces!
Thanks Ray! I hope you enjoy them and I look forward to seeing them in your work 🙂
How exciting! I love Mosi and Mositoo. So many possibilities and the way they play off each other is great!
They look wonderful together, looking forward to trying them.
Thanks Saffy! I hope you enjoy including them in your tiles.
Katy, I love this one too. It also looks like a Lichen, but a different kind. I love it. And Linda is right on about the Notan design concept. Another idea I really like but haven’t used much. This might get me using that idea more now.
Thanks so much for both tangles!
Thanks Melena! I love working with bold shapes and strong contrasts. I hope you enjoy them!
Again congratulations Katy on your 2nd tangle pattern being published as well… Another beauty… You are on a roll!
I really like both of these; thanks so much for sharing.
Thanks Kathy!
This tangle is fun too! The shapes I’ve drawn look like wonky hearts (which I can do much easier than identifiable hearts! Lol)
Love both your tangles. I’m looking forward to seeing more! Thanks for sharing!
The wonkier the better!!!
Indeed, a lovely pair of beautiful, uncomplicated and organic tangles, thank you for sharing!
I am crazy about this pattern. Fun to draw and such a striking appearance. Thanks you!
Very pretty, Katie!!
