Wednesday Wibble! As in wibble-wobble? Ibble-obble?
Today Missouri tangler Shawna Martin is back with a cool tangle she calls Wibble, and it’s her second on the site.
Now I won’t kid you, it took me a lot of tries to get an example I wasn’t embarrassed by. My mind couldn’t get around the spacing from Steps 1 through 3 so the curves turned out as even and nicely balanced as Shawna’s. And my balky thumb didn’t help, it can throw an angle into a curve at its own whim.
I ended up asking Shawna for tips on how to draw this because her original steps started at Step 4 below. Shawna was gracious enough to redo her steps to add the new 1 through 3, breaking down how to get the curves flowing. She said it took her some practice to get the consistency too.
So I know you can do it! When you look at the finished tangle, it’s surprisingly simple how it’s constructed. If you decide to add auras you can expand this ribbon-style tangle outwards to fill a space.
Shawna illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Wibble below and features it in a colorful Zentangle®-inspired monotangle tile.
As you enjoy any of the tangles on the site, please do leave a comment of thanks and encouragement to show the artists you appreciate them for sharing their creativity to inspire yours.

Beautiful, I love it!!!
What a LOVEY tangle! Thank you, Shawna (and Linda.)
I like the way this tangle flows, reminds a bit of Mooka, one of my favourite tangle patterns…nice!
Aha. Now we get it. The improved 1-3 definitely make a diff.great work Shawn!
Fabulous!! And fun to draw. The continuous reversing spirals invite Zentangle’s soft focus.
Shawna! What beautiful tangle! I love it so much. This is going in with my favourites. Thank you for sharing your creativity with everyone.
I love the way it can grow to fill a space.
Your example is lovely and neat, Linda, but I am very happy with, and entirely unembarrassed by, my pretty wibbly wobbly version! Thank you Shawna for this easy (if you embrace your inner hand drawn quality!) and useful tangle.
FANTASTIC band tangle! So looking forward to drawing it and teaching it! Thank you for this one!!
