Tumbleweed is a pretty tangle from Australian Helen Williams and it feels somehow metaphorical to me with everything going on right now. Without getting into details, you know exactly what I mean!!
Tumbleweed started out as a technique connecting dots with curved lines, as in one of Simone Bischoff’s exercises from 2011-2012 in her tutorial, “Sharpen your line drawing skills with six easy lessons“.
From there Helen played around with this same concept and developed her Tumbleweed tangle based on a grid structure. As Helen notes, Tumbleweed has “a bit of a curvy ‘Steps‘ feel without the central line.”
Tumbleweed is supremely easy, just a few curves with lots of auras that create their own shading as in Simone’s “mountains” and “valleys” of Exercise 2. I found my Micron would get into a nice rhythm adding the curvy auras. Great way to feel the zen!

This is a very pretty tangle. Thank you Helen for coming up with such beautiful curvy tangles. I’m going to try this one and also the one with connecting the dots. That should be fun too.
Zen indeed. Helen Williams has produced a lovely tangle that I can see myself using often. Thanks to you both for sharing with us.
