Last one for 2013!
Wow, what a wonderful collection of tangle patterns we’ve added this year and a great big thanks to all the generous tanglers who’ve shared their creativity and inspired us. Linda Dawson’s Holly is a fitting addition and perfect for this holiday season.
Linda has been exploring the creativity of the “grid seed” concept that Zentangle® co-founder Maria Thomas posted about earlier this year. In this case Linda has taken the familiar Christmas Holly motif and abstracted it further into a grid-based tangle. I was SO tempted to make those little orbs with my Red Sakura Micron and I’m sure that’s what many of you will do! They’d look great in the Sakura Glaze too. Or the Metallics.
Linda illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Holly below and gives us several seed variations to experiment with. I can picture this as a lovely border tangle on your greeting cards, tags and place cards.

And with this last tangle for 2013, Robert and I are taking the next two weeks to relax and enjoy time with my Mom and sister Karen, visiting us from cold and snowy Southern Ontario. Linda, I look at your site every day. I made tangled Ikea boxes for 6 of my friends for gifts. They and I loved them. I am now working on a 30×30″ project that I will frame for my dining room. Love to tangle when I’m not drawing portraits.
