Fancy Nancy is a tangle by fellow Floridian and CZT® Adele Bruno. The pattern’s inspiration came from her CZT training in September and is named for one of her daughters, as she has with her previous two tangles Lanie and Cack.
“One of the exercises in our training was to look around us for inspiration and come up with a pattern. The border on the conference room rug intrigued me and this pattern grew from interpreting the design. I called this pattern Fancy Nancy because my daughter Nancy quipped one day that if I was naming patterns after my girls and ‘working my way up the food chain’ she was next!
What a wonderful experience the seminar was I hope someday to see my fellow CZT’s again – I miss their company! I am so taken by the generosity with which Rick and Maria share their gift of Zentangle. It makes me want to enthusiastically pass it along to as many people as I am able! I am currently setting up classes in the Orlando area and will add that information to the Zentangle site when my plans are firm.”
Continuous line pattern enthusiasts will enjoy this tangle pattern and in her step-by-step instructions below Adele marks the stroke directions with an asterisk for you to follow. As she notes, Fancy Nancy “makes a lovely border or string line”.

I love this one Adele. Thank you and Happy Holiday!
Very nice, looking forward to trying it out. Thanks for sharing!!
Very nice Adele. You have beautiful handwriting as well as your zentangles!!! Fancy Nancy kind of reminds me of free motion quilting designs. Would it be alright with you if maybe I used it on one of my quilts in the future, for private use? Thank you for sharing.
Thank you Vickie and yes, by all means, use the pattern – spread the joy!
Lovely pattern, nice movement in one go!Thank you and Happy holidays!
Adele, I reallyb enjoyed Fancy Nancy tangle. Felt comfortable with it from the start. Thanks so much. Really got me going. So much for gift wrapping!
Just love all the tangles printed as I am a new fan. Unfortunately I can not find classes anywhere near me in South Australia so depend entirely on designs posted and the few books I have been able to find. Thanks again for the beautiful tangles
This beautiful tangle was one of the first I learned when I started tangling. I used it on my 6th Zendala Dare and it came out so pretty. Please come see!
I just discovered this beautiful, dainty tangle. Looking forward to using it. Thank you
I recently noticed this tangle on an old tile I had done years ago (before I began writing down the names and tangle creators). I had no clue what the name was much less who created it. It was so nice today to see it pop-up on tanglepatterns! Thank you, tangle patterns and Adele for such a happy tangle! It’s hard to me not to call it “Happy Nancy”, but Fancy Nancy works too!
This is a beautiful tangle with dainty tangleations! Thanks for pointing it out!
