How to draw TUCKED IN

New tangler Sayantika Ray is from India and currently living in Houston TX. Tucked In is her first tangle on the site.

“I was playing with simple geometrical figures and this design just came out. It just kept growing in any direction I wanted it to. I liked it immediately. I thought it had a certain ‘Zen’ quality to it. The design, I felt was quite adaptive, in the sense that everybody can draw it in their own way.”

Tucked In is simple and very absorbing to draw as you twist and turn your tile, adding new elements in the “drawing behind” fashion of Zentangle®. My example on the right is a variation of Sayantika’s basic pattern since my geometric elements were a bit small. As you will see below in Sayantika’s suggested variations, Tucked In is indeed very adaptive. And it’s trickier than you might think!

Sayantika was introduced to Zentangle through a colleague of her husband, “A few months back, I got to know about it. I liked the way of Zentangle so much that I became quite addicted to it. Since then I had been drawing Zentangles regularly.”
