How to draw CANDLEGLOW

Zentangle pattern: Candleglow. Image © Linda Farmer and TanglePatterns.com. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. You may use this image for your personal non-commercial reference only. The unauthorized pinning, reproduction or distribution of this copyrighted work is illegal.Candleglow is a tangle pattern from CZT® Suzanne McNeill’s Zentangle 5 book.

Each of Suzanne’s books in this series focuses on taking the art form of Zentangle into different areas of crafty creativity. Zentangle 5 features Zentangle-inspired jewelry, “where tangles meet bling, encounter shrink plastic, dominate dominoes, and emerge as wearable art. Show off your passion for tangling with fashion jewelry artfully and uniquely tangled by you.

Zentangle 5 also contains “40 new tangles to inspire your ever expanding repertoire of design possibilities“, and Candleglow is one of these tangles.

Candleglow can be used to fill a section of your Zentangle® and it also works as a border pattern.

Suzanne illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Candleglow here on her blog. UPDATE: Early in the Summer of 2014 Suzanne McNeill’s blog was removed and all the posts and images were lost, so this link no longer works.

Her site is being reconstructed as much as possible and until it’s available again, many of her patterns like Candleglow can quite easily be figured out. Have fun challenging your Zentangle® deconstructing abilities!

Check out the tag suzannem for more of Suzanne’s patterns on TanglePatterns.com.

Many of you are relatively new to Zentangle and possibly haven’t checked out the Zentangle books yet. There are quite a few now and more on the way.

Personally, if I could only have one it would be Sandy Bartholomew’s Totally Tangled. As I say in my review when it first came out, as a total novice to drawing what I learned about shading alone from Sandy’s book was well worth the small price of the book. AND it has over 100 patterns (not all tangles) for you to learn. If you love tangling, then do yourself a favor and treat yourself to Totally Tangled. “Trust me, 12 bucks couldn’t be better spent.”

Maybe it’s me, but I can never “see” the instructions on Suzanne’s site! I see the title for the Tangle, but no picture… Anyone else experiencing this issue?

    • Linda Farmer

Must be something in your browser settings Marcelena. They display fine for me in all browsers. See if you can find a help forum for your browser.

  • Barb

I have the same issue as Marcelena. I’ll let you know if I can find anything.

  • Yes, I had the same problem seeing Suzanne’s instructions on Safari. But they show up just fine when I use FireFox.

  • Linda Farmer

I located the problem and it’s because of the resolution of the image posted which will not display correctly in some browsers. Hopefully Suzanne can get it replaced with the correct image so that everyone can see the steps.

If you are among those affected, please leave a comment on Suzanne’s blog on the page where you’re having problems so she will know what needs to be corrected. THANKS!

I’m another who cannot see the step-out for this one.

    • Linda Farmer, CZT

Hi Cathy, it seems you missed this in the post:

UPDATE: Early in the Summer of 2014 Suzanne McNeill’s blog was removed and all the posts and images were lost, so this link no longer works.

Her site is being reconstructed as much as possible and until it’s available again, many of her patterns like Candleglow can quite easily be figured out. Have fun challenging your Zentangle® deconstructing abilities.

As it turns out Suzanne wasn’t able to recreate her site as there was no backup so there are a few tangles where you can practice your deconstructing skills. The recent Xerxes might help you start. Hope that helps!
