How to draw LEAFANDDART

Hi there! Thanks so much for your company today. 🙂

It’s been a little while since we’ve added a tangle from German CZT Henrike Bratz and today we add her LeafAndDart to our resource. This one’s her sixth tangle on the site.

Henrike writes that LeafAndDart was was inspired by the related pattern EggAndDart by CZT Simone Menzel. In her lovely ZIA Zentangle® tile, Henrike combined EggAndDart with her LeafAndDart and the Zentangle-original Doodah.

Henrike writes,

Both patterns – also under exactly these names – are classic ornamental ribbons that originate from ancient Greece and were adopted by the Romans. They often decorate cornices, capitals and other architectural ornamental elements. Through the Renaissance and Classicism, they were also used in handicrafts and furniture making.

During a walk in Bad Bevensen in the Lüneburge Heide, a door caught my eye. There it was: the pattern Leaf And Dart in the wild.

For my example of LeafAndDart as I was exploring various versions of it I had an urge to add more ink, then some auras quickly followed so I ended up with something a little different. With apologies and all due respect to Henrike’s lovely original 😉
