How to draw ANMOO

Hello there my tangling friends! Welcome back for our Friday tangle.

Today’s fun and versatile Anmoo tangle is from Japanese CZT Hiromi Fukuoka and it’s her fifth on the site. Most recently we explored her Mooleaf deconstruction.

Hiromi introduces her tangle:

Marasu is one of my favorite tangles.

I also love ammonite fossils and have a small figurine and a macrame braided necklace.

Hiromi was inspired by Marasu and her love for these fossils and deconstructed Anmoo as a result.

All triangles from the center are connected by an aura, like tripoli. The aura can be a C-curve, the reverse of an S-curve, or whatever. Feel free to connect them a little bit bigger.

We have many tangles on the site inspired by the spiral shape and more specifically some sharing DNA with the same shape as Anmoo. I believe Andrea Schumann’s Snaylz Trayl was the first. Others include Tina Hunziker’s Hamail, Teresa Clerc’s M-Anning, Jenna Black’s Trisnail, Hanna Shan’s Sun, Jenn Brayton’s Eeric. And of course the Zentangle-original Marasu, as Hiromi points out. Today we add to that family Anmoo, which actually starts out very much like the Zentangle-original Molygon.

Anmoo is lovely on its own and has many possibilities for embellishment, but it also makes an excellent string as Australian CZT shares with us in her excellent tutorial, It’s Spiralicious!

Hiromi illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Anmoo below and she features it in a lovely ZIA tile.
