Another beautiful week and more beautiful tangles to play with …
Today’s Aro tangle is from Virginia CZT Kat van Rooyen and it’s her first on the site.
Kat explains her inspiration for Aro: “I saw it on a bracelet, and fell in love!”
While chronologically Kat’s Aro submission came first by several years, we have since had another tangle on the site with the same name. Belgian CZT Ria Matheussen’s Aro was named from an entirely different kind of inspiration and I’ll leave it to you to check that out 🙂
Kat introduces herself and shares how Zentangle® has changed her life:
I am quite passionate about teaching Zentangle because it literally did change my life!
I am a retired psychotherapist specializing in grief and trauma resolution. My husband and I moved to the beautiful Appalachian Mountains where I became more and more disabled and consequently, more and more depressed. I could not seem to drag myself out of the hole. That’s when Zentangle stepped into my life and saved me.
Ever since that day, I have awakened with new purpose and joy; my severe insomnia is no more; I have increased focus and concentration; severe anxiety is no longer a cold companion; and my memory has improved. Those are just a few of the ways that Zentangle has changed my life.
Kat’s Aro is very easy to tangle and it would make a cool ZIA with some sparkly Gelly Roll accents on the “beads”, don’t you think? Maybe I’m being influenced by the bracelet inspiration …
Kat illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Aro below where she suggests that in addition to using it as a ribbon-style tangle you can also “layer it with every other strand going in opposite direction (stagger like a brick wall)“. Easy and pretty! You can learn more about Kat here on her blog.
As you enjoy any of the tangles on the site, please leave a comment of thanks and encouragement to show the artists you appreciate them for sharing their creativity to inspire yours. Your thanks helps motivate them to continue to share! And please share a link to your favorite tangles on social media. Thanks!
