Hi everyone, welcome to Wednesday’s sweet TulipDue tangle from Spanish CZT Carmen Varela Trigo.
TulipDue is her first tangle on the site.
Carmen introduces herself and her tangle,
I live in Redondela, Galicia, a community in the northwest of the Iberian Peninsula, in a coastal town where the Portuguese Way to Santiago de Compostela passes through.
My passion for the Zentangle began during the confinement in March 2020, since then every day I look for a moment to draw, or what is the same, disconnect. During this process I got to know myself better, appreciating myself, and loving myself, without judgments, seeing opportunities where before I saw mistakes.
I am a bookbinding craftswoman, and for 20 years I have been working as a workshop teacher in an Occupational Center of a Mental Health Association, and from the beginning, I saw the possibilities that this method could have with the people I work with, and this was which prompted me to certify as CZT.
TulipDue is an organic tangle of border or grid, which is inspired by a porcelain jar.
We’ve visited Santiago de Compostela in the past with Swiss CZT Tina Hunziker’s Buen Camino tangle, so if you’re interested in a little background on the famous Santiago de Compostela Catholic pilgrimage route be sure to check that out.
Carmen shares this lovely ZIA tile mosaic featuring TulipDue:
Carmen illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing TulipDue below and she demonstrates it in a lovely minimalist monotangle Zentangle tile.
As you enjoy any of the tangles on the site, please leave a comment of thanks and encouragement to show the artists you appreciate them for sharing their creativity to inspire yours. Your thanks helps motivate them to continue to share! And please share a link to your favorite tangles on social media. Thanks!

- "A Zentangle has no up or down and is not a picture of something, so you have no worries about whether you can draw a hand, or a duck. You always succeed in creating a Zentangle." Thus patterns that are drawings of a recognizable naturalistic or actual object, figure, or scene, are not tangles. A pattern is not always a tangle — here's what makes a tangle.
