How to draw CHAIRS

Zentangle pattern: Chairs. Image © Linda Farmer and TanglePatterns.com. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. You may use this image for your personal non-commercial reference only. The unauthorized pinning, reproduction or distribution of this copyrighted work is illegal.Singapore CZT Diana Tan joins us today to share her fun and super easy Chairs tangle with us, it’s her first on the site.

I have to say that when I first saw Diana’s steps for Chairs I thought it was too similar to the Zentangle®-original Static. But Diana’s examples of a variety of ways to use Chairs convinced me to add it to our resource, a Static tangleation.

Diana’s ZIA example of Chairs within Cadent, below, was what I based my example on.

For those of us who aren’t totally fond of making straight strokes, Chairs can also be tangled with curved ones as this example shows:

Diana introduces herself and explains her inspiration for Chairs,

I am a CZT (#31, June 2018) and live in Singapore.

Creating these tangles sends a desire to attend another CZT training! I just love the creatives and their works in the Zentangle community.

Recently I was thinking of the stick figures that I drew when I was young and this led to Chairs.

When I was a child I drew a chair in three simple three strokes. With stacks of the three strokes, it has morphed into a tangle.

Diana illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Chairs below and she gives this hint, “Chairs can be used on its own or inside a tangle. In my first example, I have added Flux and Zinger. In the second example, I drew Chairs inside Flux. ”

Diana also recommends trying Chairs out as a string, many tangles work with this idea, here are two sample strings:

As you enjoy any of the tangles on the site, please leave a comment of thanks and encouragement to show the artists you appreciate them for sharing their creativity to inspire yours. Your thanks helps motivate them to continue to share!
