Fjord is a new tangle by CZT Diana von Kaenel, one of three CZTs in Switzerland.
From Gimel, Switzerland, Diana was a member of the CZT15 class in June and this is her first tangle pattern on the site.
According to Google, a fjord is “a long, narrow, deep inlet of the sea between high cliffs, as in Norway and Iceland, typically formed by submergence of a glaciated valley.” And Diana writes that the inspiration for Fjord came while on a cruise:
“I was on a very big boat between Denmark and Norway for a little cruise. Inside, a lot of very nice shops. I found this pattern on a dress. And as you can see it inspire me so much.. :0)
I discover during its development that inside appears the whole card deck with the hearts, diamonds, spades and clubs … if you can see it..“
In this case, Fjord is another lovely tangle to add to our collection and I know you’ll have fun with it.
Diana illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Fjord below and shows several ways to vary her tangle.

Giving Zentangle® Christmas Gifts?
This is wonderful! It can be played around in so many ways. Amazing.
Thank you Diana!
Intriguing tangle! i like patterns with “life” to them, so this one should be fun (now if I could just master Mooka–drives me nuts!I love it, but can’t seem to get the gorgeous flow Maria does).
A fun tangle to play with AND a cool string!! Fabulous!
Love new pattern and the variations. It looks like a fun pattern and I am anxious to try it. Thanks for sharing!
Joyce, I can’t seem to master Mooka, either! But I don’t think any of us can come up to Maria’s level!
Complex and will take a while for me to perfect, but it will be fun. Thanks for sharing!
I love looking forward to seeing new tangles, and strings, lol, love this tangle, will sure have lots of fun with this, many thanks for sharing.
Although this lovely tangle has been around for a couple of years, this was the first time I`ve seen it. I spotted it passing by at the top of the first TanglePatterns page and tracked it down to learn it.
