How to draw SP-EYE-RYL

The graceful tangle pattern, Sp-Eye-Ryl, comes from British tangler Sharon Robinson. Sharon also shared the very beautiful and popular Sindoo with us earlier in the year.

This is so much fun to draw and there’s something about Sp-Eye-Ryl that looks like it’s in motion. It’s almost lifelike in a sci-fi kinda way, maybe it’s because of the “lashes”? You could also draw the random spirals aligned in a row, Fescu-like, to make a fascinating border tangle.

In Step 3 below, Sharon explains to “add weight to crossover points and stems”. This is what we refer to in Zentangle® as the tangle enhancer Rounding. It comes in handy in a lot of places.
