Blooming-butter has the honor of being the second pattern submitted to TanglePatterns.com! With thanks to Shelly Beauchamp who writes the inspiration came from the pattern on a butter dish, hence the name. You never know where pattern ideas may come from!
This illustration is Shelly’s, used with her permission. The blossom’s “ties” can swirl and link to more blossoms creating an overall pattern. Shelly illustrates her pattern on her blog here.
Shelly is currently endeavoring to post a daily Zentangle® on her blog, do visit! Her style is one of my personal favorites. And while you’re there, read her poem in the sidebar entitled Today. Nice.

This is a very nice pattern, I love it and surely I’m gonna use it in my drawings.Thank you for sharing.
I’ve just come across this lovely tangle. I can’t believe that it has been on the site and in the Tangle Guides right from the very beginning in June 2010 and I’ve never consciously spotted it. I love the way that starting with the curvy ‘sides of the petals’ gives the resulting pattern a beautifully lively randomness. I much prefer it without the linking bits, though. So, better late than never, thank you Shelly.
