How to draw KISSES

Zentangle pattern: Kisses. Image © Linda Farmer and TanglePatterns.com. All rights reserved.Kisses, today’s easy tangle pattern comes from a fellow Floridian CZT, Adele Bruno.

Adele teaches in the Altamonte Springs area of Central Florida and she also runs the weekly String challenge for those who enjoy that kind of thing. Since CZT Laura Harms first introduced her weekly Zentangle® challenge, various types of Zentangle-related challenges have sprung from the woodwork. Adele’s challenge usually uses the Strings and tangles from TanglePatterns.

Adele created Kisses, “a sweet and simple pattern” in honor of the recent birthday of Milton Hershey, founder of the candy company famous for its sweet confection known as Hershey’s Kisses™.

The Hershey Chocolate Company played a fond role in Adele’s childhood and community in Lancaster PA, and she recalls it in her post.

As for the Kisses tangle, I found that the strokes in Steps 1 and 2 of Adele’s instructions need to be a good distance apart so you don’t end up squashing your kisses. I added some rounding to the outer edges and tiny bit of shading to the centers in my “unembellished “example.

Adele illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Kisses here on her blog. Her steps show various ways to use it including as a border and stacked as a background fill tangle.
