How to draw WUD

Zentangle pattern: WudHere’s such a fun and easy tangle pattern to start off our week. And it’s a pretty one too.

I’ve been meaning to add Wud to our index for quite some time but somehow it slipped off my radar. Fortunately I rediscovered Wud when I was reviewing older patterns recently.

Sumter, South Carolina CZT Joni Feddersen introduced this tangle at the third CZT seminar in May of 2010. Joni comments, “It is a very commonly used hatching that is used in architectural drawings.

Wud makes a great ribbon or border type tangle and shading adds some cool curved dimension to it. Wud will give you good practice at your aura-ing skills.

Also attending the same certification seminar as Joni was Canadian CZT Margaret Bremner who posted the step-by-step instructions for drawing Wud here on her site, along with Margaret’s own “ribbon” variation. Margaret demonstrates Wud in a Zentangle® and in two ATC ZIA’s incorporating this fun tangle.

Check out the tag jonif for more of Joni’s tangles, and margaretb for more of Margaret’s tangles on TanglePatterns.com.
