One of the “tangle enhancers” taught by Zentangle® originators Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas (and CZTs) is the “sparkle“. You often find this enhancement in Maria’s Zentangles. Currently the other tangle enhancers are aura, dewdrop, perfs, rounding, and shading.
In her example of her Brayd tangle pattern Michele Beauchamp uses sparkle to great effect. I haven’t been able to draw it to my satisfaction at all. Part of the difficulty may be the small 3 cm scale I draw my examples but I need a whole lot more practice to make sparkles look natural. So this is my drawing completely sans sparkle and my apologies to Michele!

I’ve always loved the look of braiding and ‘pigtails’! I still love to see a little girl with her hair in braids. It is a wonderful tangle and fun to draw.I can’t wait to use it!
