How to draw JULES

Hello my tangling friends! Great to see you again this fine October day …

Today’s Jules tangle is from Ohio tangler Susan Hodel and it’s her second on the site. Some time ago Susan shared her sweet and simple Lacee tangle with us.

Susan writes,

While browsing through a magazine, I noticed a version of [this pattern] in the background of a page and thought I could work it into a nice filler type pattern.

As you can see, the tangle can be a filler or even a border if you string them together with little circles.

I had fun playing with the design and hope you enjoy giving it a try.

Jules is very easy to tangle although I might have a little tip to offer. At first I did find I had to play around a bit to get Step 1’s downward strokes angles just right. If I made them too steep, the top outer strokes in Step 3 ended up a little wonky, almost overlapping the inner ones. FWIW.

Susan illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Jules below where she shows various ways to use her tangle and some variations on how to fill the facets. I’m thinking a ZIA with some glittery Sakura Metallic Gelly Rolls would look pretty cool.
