How to draw LOGAN

Today’s grid-based Logan tangle is from UK CZT Chrissie Frampton who recently shared her popular Bertee tangle with us. Logan is Chrissie’s ninth tangle on the site.

Chrissie writes,

The inspiration for this tangle was taken from a restaurant on a ship and I recently found, pencilled out, in an old journal.

When I started doing the step out, it really reminded me of a Scottish (Argyle/Argyll) Tartan.

I thought a Scottish inspired name would be appropriate for this tangle and recently spent a week in Dumfries and Galloway where we visited the small village of Port Logan. We were last here 15 years ago and in that time the pub is no longer open and in a state of disrepair. These two photos are from our visit there recently.

Years ago there was a television series called 2000 Acres of Sky which was filmed around this small village and community which was very popular on British TV.

Logan has another memory for me, it’s the name of the International airport in Boston I flew into when going to CZT Seminar 20 and ZenAgain November 2018. Happy Memories.

As you’ll see in a moment in Chrissie’s examples there are many ways to vary Logan. When I was doing my example I found the “cross” shapes in the centers interesting so I used a graphite-filled tortillion to mimic that shape just for something different.
