Septembies is a lovely new tangle from Swiss CZT Hanny Waldburger and this makes Hanny’s 8th tangle on the site.
While Septembies is presented here in a grid-based style, Hanny’s deconstruction also demonstrates how it well works in a free-form version.

Hanny illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Septembies here on her blog. As mentioned above in her imaginative tile examples she shows it in a circular free-form version and one tile also demonstrates a variety of ways to vary the fills of the shape produced at Step 3.

Hanny’s Septembies tangle and her wishes are very fitting today as sundown tonight marks the beginning of the two-day Jewish New Year celebration of Rosh Hashanah.
Rosh Hashanah customs include sounding the shofar (a hollowed-out ram’s horn), as prescribed in the Torah, following the prescription of the Hebrew Bible to “raise a noise” … and among its rabbinical customs is attending synagogue services and reciting special liturgy … also enjoying festive meals. Eating symbolic foods such as apples dipped in honey is now a tradition, hoping thereby to evoke a “sweet new year”. ~ Wikipedia

Dear Linda,
Thank you for writing and sending the link about Rosh Hashanah. I hope you are able to celebrate in the traditional manner…what with your recent storm. Our Houston was severely hit and my heart aches as synagogues and numerous homes have been damaged. ironically”The J” where an art group I’m in was exhibiting on the theme “Renewal”. This particular area, Meyerland, has suffered three severe floods within three years.
I’m not sure why I am writing….some sort of catharsis, I suppose.
I hear you Judith, and I feel for everyone affected by these terrible storms and of course the earthquake in Mexico. It’s all very stressful to contemplate. Catharsis is good.
