How to draw TINT

German tangler Henrike Bratz first shared her Axelexa tangle with us back in April of 2014.

Very recently she traveled to Providence RI to become a Certified Zentangle Teacher®. She’s been a dedicated tangler for a few years now and is now teaching the Zentangle Method™ in Northern Germany.

Tint is Henrike’s new tangle, named for a pattern she noticed last year on the top rail of a chair in her accommodations near Tintern Abbey. Henrike was on a 136-mile walking trip in England and  Wales at the time.

Tintern Abbey is in Wales and we learn from Wikipedia,

Tintern Abbey (Welsh: Abaty Tyndyrn) was founded by Walter de Clare, Lord of Chepstow, on 9 May 1131. It is situated adjacent to the village of Tintern in Monmouthshire, on the Welsh bank of the River Wye, which forms the border between Monmouthshire in Wales and Gloucestershire in England. It was only the second Cistercian foundation in Britain, and the first in Wales. Falling into ruin after the Dissolution of the Monasteries in the 16th century, the remains were celebrated in poetry and often painted by visitors from the 18th century onwards. … The site welcomes approximately 70,000 people every year. …

The present-day remains of Tintern are a mixture of building works covering a 400-year period between 1136 and 1536. Very little remains of the first buildings; a few sections of walling are incorporated into later buildings and the two recessed cupboards for books on the east of the cloisters are from this period.

… William Wordsworth’s poem “Lines written a few miles above Tintern Abbey, on revisiting the banks of the Wye during a tour, July 13, 1798″, is often linked with the Abbey.
