No doubt you’re as horrified and shocked as I am over the terrible and inexplicable attacks on innocent people in England this weekend. Sincere prayers to everyone affected and “Please, God”, may there be an end to this complete insanity of human against human.
An antidote in creativity … This lovely Rainbow Bridge tangle is from UK tangler Sarah Harrison and it’s her first on the site.
Sarah writes,
I drew this tangle after having to put to sleep my elderly dog that was almost 16. We had been through a lot together.
I am a single mum of 2 boys. I am Guernsey, Channel Island born but at the moment live in Gloucester, UK. I have always drawn and discovered Zentangle about 7 years ago.
I like doing geometric patterns the best as I am a bit of perfectionist and everything has to look correct. Although I am trying now to have more of a go at more organic patterns.
Our sincerest sympathies on the loss of your precious family member, Sarah.
Although Rainbow Bridge is doubtless similar to the Zentangle®-original Onamato, I know many tanglers will enjoy this “floral” take on Onamato‘s “string of pearls”. For my example I used regular rounded loops in Step 4 where Sarah’s are a bit more squared-off shapes. Choices, choices.
Sarah illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Rainbow Bridge below and includes a colorful ZIA demonstrating her tangle.
As you enjoy any of the tangles on the site, please do leave a comment of thanks and encouragement to show the artists you appreciate them for sharing their creativity to inspire yours.

I love the idea behind this pattern. It’s so hard to lose a beloved pet and this is a lovely memorial. Thanks, Sarah. It’s enjoyable to draw and I can see many variations.
Lovely work! Thanks for your colorful contribution. 🙂
Lovely Sarah. I especially like your rainbow colored version. Condolences on the loss of your beloved furry family member.
Love this! Thank you 🙂
This is such a lovely pattern. Thank you for sharing the Rainbow Bridge.
This is a very appealing pattern and especially like your colored rainbow version. I got out the pen and pencils and had a go at it. Thanks!
Merci de cette belle création.
I recently lost a pet of 12 yrs old and as soon as I saw the name Rainbow Bridge I know someone lost a pet. You have to lose one to understand the significance of Rainbow Bridge.
Thank for this lovely tangle.
I love your tangle and the fact you created it in memory of your sweet fur baby.
It is a beautiful and loving tribute.
Sarah,
Thank you for such a beautiful tangle. I love the reason for it as well. I’m looking forward to more of your tangles.
Hi Sarah, I just discovered your lovely story and tangle dedicataed to your elderly companion tonight, while looking at someone’s tangled post on Facebook. Thank you. Wishing you warm memories.
I like this one. Could be a great border tangle.
