How to draw JASMIN

Jasmin is an unusual grid-based tangle pattern from German tangler Simone Bischoff. Its grid is based on rectangles rather than the more commonly found squares.

And it produces a very pretty tangle. The rectangular grid format invites further experimentation …

Simone writes (in German and translated by Mr. Google) that she was inspired by a blog comment to search online for Portuguese tiles and she found a tile she was intrigued by enough to deconstruct it. “The uncomplicated lines, the possibility to vary the color and design led me to come to terms with this pattern here on my blog.” You’ll see the tile of her inspiration in her post.

As I often do, because real tangles have “no right side up”, I’ve shown my example here turned 90 degrees from Simone’s instructions and to my eye it looks just as lovely from any viewpoint.
