If you needed any proof that Zentangle® is popular around the world, here’s CZT® Laura Liu’s tangle pattern, Japan Diamond. She writes that her pattern was inspired by “Japanese Artwork”.
Laura is a graduate of CZT#4 and she’s from Taipei, Taiwan, the capital city of the Republic of China.
Japan Diamond is a grid-based tangle and once you get started you’ll see it has lots of possibilities for variations. My example above is the basic tangle and here in this example on the right I skipped Step 4 (the vertical diamonds) and just used Steps 5 and 6.
Laura writes,
I own a rubber stamp and scrapbooking store in Taipei, Taiwan. My store name is Created With Love. I found Zentangle in 2010 and immediately fell in love with it. I decided to attend the CZT training to bring back this wonderful art to share with people in Taiwan.
To date I am the only CZT in Taiwan and hold regular Zentangle workshops in my stores. People who attended the workshops, enjoy the tangling process very much.
Recently, Kass Hall’s book “Zentangle Untangled” was translated into Chinese in Taiwan. I was invited to write an introduction on this translation book. This proves that Zentangle is a worldwide art!

I just re-discovered this tangle pattern, and I really love it. Not only do I love the way it looks, I find it very easy to get in a zone when drawing this one- so much fun & very relaxing.
I love, love, love everything Sakura! Aside from their white gel pens, pens in general.
