Today’s tangle is named Loopy and it’s shared by tangler Veronica Szczerba of San Diego, CA.
“I go by my nickname Ronnie. My last name looks very difficult but actually if you leave off all the consonants, it’s quite easy and pronounced ‘Sir ba.’ It’s of Polish origins.” This is Ronnie’s first tangle on the site.
In my example I’ve drawn back-to-back versions of Loopy as Ronnie has shown in her Zentangle® below, and I’ve displayed it vertically. As Ronnie points out you can also use Loopy as a border tangle pattern. I like how Loopy seems to have a kind of “tribal” look to it, and of course it’s very easy to draw “one stroke at a time”.
I’ve been tangling since about June 2012 and happened upon Zentangle by way of Pinterest. I googled the word and discovered a whole new world. This began my addiction to Zentangle. I’m retired and have lived in San Diego since 1998. I’m originally from Wilmington, Delaware where I sold real estate for many years. I’ve always been “crafty” (sewing, crocheting, knitting), but never considered myself an “artist.” When I saw what beautiful designs I could make “one step at a time,” I was delighted. I enjoy the repetitive, concentration it requires. Its been such fun buying pens and pencils, all sorts of papers and tiles so I can create my ZIAs. I also feel it’s helped me be more relaxed. I enjoy looking at the work of so many talented people who are tangling. Needless to say all of this has kept me quite busy and has allowed me to discover my artistic abilities as well as ignited my artistic creativity.
Here are Ronnie’s step-by-step instructions for drawing Loopy along with a couple of suggested variations for you to try in Steps 5 and 6.
