How to draw SCALLIDE

Hello again friends and welcome back for another week of fun tangle inspiration. It’s so nice to see you again!

It’s with some relief we monitor the projections for the very powerful Hurricane Lee. It appears to be heading primarily north and we certainly hope it continues to veer east as it nears Atlantic Canada. It will most likely impact most of the U.S. East Coast with strong winds, heavy rainfall and “dangerous surf and life-threatening rip currents”. Chugging along behind Lee is TS Margot which appears to be steering north and well away from the U.S. {As if 9/11 isn’t already fraught with emotion.}

Today’s Scallide tangle is from CZT Barbara Duel Johnson and makes a Baker’s Dozen for her on the site. Most recently we explored her Bolly tangle.

Barbara notes that Scallide “is a cousin to Fracture” which we also recently explored.

Barbara introduces her tangle:

I tangle a lot of cards, and I often feel like they need a border. That is how “Scallide” came about. I needed a border, LOL.

I love using this on Zendalas, but it works well on other shapes, as well, and can be used in either direction – with the scallops facing out, or facing in.

You can fill in the scallops with different embellishments, and you can also use “Scallide” as a banner or ribbon.

Barbara illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Scallide below and shows two simple examples of ways it can be used. In her included examples she shows that you don’t actually need the top stroke in Step 1 unless you planned on stacking or mirroring them, or just want it framed with some white space above when included with more tangles.
