Zen-sational Stitches for Quilting

As announced here earlier this week, CZT® Suzanne McNeill’s new Zen-sational Stitches for Quilting book is now available and in this 10-minute video you can follow along with Suzanne as she demonstrates how to add Zentangle® inspired stitching to your quilts and appliques.

With a Pentel Gel Roller, Suzanne’s favorite gel pen for fabric, she uses templates from the book and also shows how to transfer the templates to quilting blocks. Then she shows how easy it is to free motion stitch patterns with continuous line stitching for quilted wall hangings, dressed up tea towels, and more. Some of the other templates included in the book include a puffy owl, a rooster and an apple.

Zen-sational Stitches for Quilting contains dozens of continuous line stitch patterns, tips, techniques, and all the instructions needed to get started.

Enjoy!

I have one of the Bernina Artiste range of embroidery machines, (they double up as a sewing/quilting machine),which come in two parts, the sewing machine and the embroidery unit which clip together – plus computer software.

I haven’t used it for tangling yet, but know that I could. They are very expensive, and you need to be good at graphics on the computer. (That would be no problem, however, for any Tangler, with our finger and hand control.)

You make your design and instruct it for stitches, colour changes etc, enter the design into the machine andthe fabric into the hoop that attaches to the unit, make a cup of tea or coffee ,press start, (it is essential to do it in this order, as you must watch it in case of any problems) sit down and enjoy watching it produce your design. 🙂
There are a number of different manufacturers making similar products.

Ummmm … where is the “Zen” – “the bliss of stress-free quilting as you experience the relaxing, repetitive concepts of Zentangle®”? Programming a machine (or using a computer to make a digital image and calling it Zentangle) … no way! 😉 But I bet the cup of tea is lovely.

I pick up my ‘free motion foot’ for my sewing machine tomorrow =) I am so excited to get started with this.
