How to draw AND

Zentangle pattern: And. Image © Linda Farmer and TanglePatterns.com. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. You may use this image for your personal non-commercial reference only. The unauthorized pinning, reproduction or distribution of this copyrighted work is illegal.Dutch tangler Sandra Harsveld might have been inspired by one of our tangles from oh-so-long ago, Chemystery in coming up with her And tangle, her first on the site.

Like Chemystery, And uses the clever placement of orbs along the initial backbone strokes to position “black pearl” highlights and disguise the underlying structure.

The name of Sandra’s tangle follows the example of Kerry Heun’s Palrevo, as can clearly be seen at a glance of the tangle and she notes in her introduction below.

My artist name is Kip. I used to make paintings, but a few years ago I stopped with all my creative processes until last summer.

I discovered Zentangle® on the internet, ordered the Primer and a tool set and made my first drawing on 7.30.17. And I couldn’t stop anymore.

My problem right now is that I see tangles everywhere. AND is based on the DNA-string and I think it has many possibilities.

I live in the Netherlands and I like to become a CZT some day, but I feel I need some more experience before I jump into that course.

Sandra illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing And below and demonstrates it in a Zentangle tile with some ideas for embellishing her tangle. The Zentangle-originals Well and Zinger also feature in her tile.

As Sandra shows, you can also change out the orbs for other shapes such as squares. And I would add: hearts, diamonds, the whole deck 😉 !

Very clever! This looks like a fun one to play with. Sandra, I love the sample tile showing your variations!

Cute tangle pattern! Don’t think you need to have ‘enough’ experience to become a CZT. There was less than a month between the day I discovered Zentangle and the day I got certified to teach it! Just jump in… you will learn along the way. Think of it as more of a journey than a destination and you will have a wonderful time!

Thanks Sandy, I was hoping someone would address that concern of Sandra’s. I totally agree that experience is not required, just enthusiasm. The rest will be absorbed in the wonderful experience that is a CZT seminar.
